Our foundation process started in 1998 with KİHEP [Women’s human rights training
program] training. As women who have participated in this training, we started to
think about what we could do on women’s issues.
We formed Women’s Provincial Board as the first organizing group in Çanakkale. In 10 years time,
rights study was conducted for 3467 women. Within this period of time, a lot of studies and
activities were hosted in line with our objectives.
These objectives;
*Abolishing any kind of discrimination against women and girls.
*Struggling against violence against women and sexual abuse in families and society.
*Supporting women’s economic independence.
*Supporting women’s active participation in politics.
*Opening women’s shelters.
*Supporting women who have applied to our association financially and morally.
We have opened various courses to take women out of their homes and to ensure their economic freedom. A group was formed with women who finished the courses and were willing to market their products. After our meetings with the municipality, we were allowed to open a stand in Park Morabbin. After permission, in this 10 years time, our worker women whom we call Morabbin Group, started to sell their products carrying their stands on their backs with a great devotion. This group is also following local markets and festivals outside the city apart from the park.
